A decade is like
a speck in the life of a vibrant institute. The Desh Bhagat
Dental College and Hospital has traveled quite a few miles and
come to recognized as a premier institute with an intake of
hundred BDS students.The institution is named after the great "Desh
Bhagat" and veteran freedom fighter late S.Lal Singh ji, who
was a close associate of Neta ji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Desh Bhagat Dental College is located on kotkapura road about 1
km from the kotkapura Bathinda bypass. Muktsar bus stand is 5 km
and Railway station is 4 km from the institute. Shri Muktsar
Sahib is connected with Delhi and all major cities of Punjab by
bus service and trains. The long distance trains stop
at Kotkapura. A town 30 km from Shri Muktsar sahib. Nearest
airports are at New Delhi and Amritsar.Shri Muktsar Sahib
located in the Malwa region of Punjab and is found to have very
poor level of dental awareness and dental health. Flourosis of
teeth is the most prevalent dental problem in this area. To
aware the people our college organize free dental check –up
camps, various dental treatment are done at nominal cost in its
multispecialities well equipped dental hospital.

The first batch of 60 BDS students was
admitted in academic year 2000-01 after obtaining permission
by Dental Council of India (DCI), Central Govt. and Punjab
Govt.
Affiliation
to the Universty :
The college is Permanently affiliated to
the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (B.F.U.H.S.)
to which all health related colleges of Punjab state are
affiliated.
Recognition /
Permission Status:
As per regulation of the D.C.I and the
Dentist Act 1948, the New Dental Colleges have to obtain
permission for admission every year from Central Govt., till
the Degree is recognised after the passing of 1st.
Final B.D.S. examination i.e. after passing of the 4th batch
of B.D.S. students.
This college has admitted B.D.S. students of
4th batch in 2003-04 after obtaining permission for the 2nd
3rd & 4th Batch from the D.C.I. & The Central Govt.,
Now College is recognized by DCI & Ministry of
family & Health Govt. of India, New Delhi for 100 intake per
year.
Building of
College & Hospital:
The multistoried college building has
Administrator Block, 4 Lecture Hall with Audio Visual Aids,
2 Operation Theaters with latest equipments, all Preclinical
Medical and Dental Deptts. with well equipped Laboratories,
Boys and Girls Student common Rooms, A.C. Library and other
Sections as per requirement of D.C.I.
The Dental Hospital is a triple storied
spacious and well ventilated building, connected to the
College Building. All the 8 Dental Specialties Deptts. have
ultra modern facilities in respect of infrastructure
equipment and instruments along with well equipped
auditorium.
Our students go for training at “Usha Bansal
Nursing Home” a 100 beded Hospital situated 1 km away from
college.College has its own 50 beded General Hospital &
Dental Hospital with all facilities.
Equipment :
Desh Bhagat College & Hospital has latest
equipment. This college & Hospital has 222 Dental Chairs
Unit, OPG/RVG/TMI Machine-streto 2000 Rotograph,80 Phantom
heads, induction causting machine,Panorax,Pulp Vitalizer
tater,apex locater,protaper kit,Pentamix, Bone Plating
System etc.
Faculty :
The faculty is highly qualified and fulfills
all norms of the D.C.I. and B.F.U.H.S. regarding numbers,
qualifications and experience. In fact our senior teachers
are exceeding the numbers prescribed by the D.C.I. (List
attached)
Library :
The College Library has about 4000 books for
all the five professional years and many national and
international Dental Journals are being subscribed.
The College Library has specious Reading
room for about 100 students. There are separate Journal
reading room, staff reading room and well maintained
computer lab with internet facility.
The college has separate multi storied Hostels
for Boys and Girls with adequate capacity for all students. At
present 130 and 300 students capacity is available in boys and
girls Hostels respectively. Both the Hostels have all facilities
like Mess, T.V., and Indoor games. The Hot Water is available in
winter. The construction for accommodating more students is
going on.
Apart from these activities, the students also participate in
cultural items. Also a motorcycle rally had been organised by
the college from Muktsar to Khardungla pass, which holds the record
of being the highest motor road in the world.
"All
work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". The College
lays extra stress on co-curricular activities. The college authorities
and students organise Free Medical and Dental Check-up Camps in
the region on regular basis. The college also organises Blood
Donation camps where large number of students as well as general
public turn up for the noble cause. The college also organised
tree plantation drive in the region.
